Radhanath Swami on The Role of a Scientist

It is not possible to comprehend the details of creation. An honest scientist is one who investigates into the mysteries of the universe as far as possible, and then on realizing human limitation and infinitesimal nature, glorifies the Lord's genius. A dishonest scientist is one who conceals his failure to unravel the ultimate mystery behind tall talks of the undying scientific spirit.

The Lord has infinite inconceivable energies. A liberated soul simply surrenders with love but an illusioned soul resolves to figure out everything by his own endeavor. To count the number of grains on a beach is inconceivable regardless of one's motivation, and therefore, it is wise to accept it as such.

  2. Radhanath Swami very systematically proves how spirituality is absolutely scientific, whereas what modern-day scientists propagate is nothing more than cheap deception

  9. HH BhaktiSwaroop Damodar Swami Maharaj has been one of the best example of a very intelligent scientist who used all his capabilities & knowledge in the service of Srila Prabhupada & to glorify God's creation.

  14. Radhanath Swami has very gently adviced us that it is foolish to try to figure out everything on our own - we should take the shelter of authorities and save time.

  18. Today's scientists are engaged in simply desproving each other's theories and improving material comforts which are in any way are temporary.Real scientist is one who accepts the knowledge given by the Lord and uses it to improve the quality of a living being's spiritual life.

  19. As HH Radhanath Swami says, it is wise to accept God as infinite and we as insfinitesimal.

  20. To seek the essence exhibits true love/understanding of GOD. And one who has succeeded to do so has achieved the mercy of GOD. Radhanath Swami very nicely explains this concept.

  21. Scientists should consider God in their theories. It will still keep things logical.

  28. Radhanath Swami Maharaji gives a wonderful message here " Instead of figuring out the mystery, just simply accept and surrender to the Lord with love and devotion"

  29. Great message on an honest scientist by Radhanath Swami. If we go back in history, we find honest scientists, who have accepted God as the Supreme Scientist. However, there is another genre of scientists, who because of their false ego, don't follow the same.

  32. I like the fact that Maharaj clearly disinguishes between an honest scientist, like the ones we have in KC serving Prabhupada, and the dishonest ones who dont concede to the facts, but hide behind scientific hoopla. Jai Maharaj.

  33. Radhanath Swami Maharaj has very nicely explained the constructive role that a scientist can play in the society - to educate the common mass in a rational & intelligent way about their real identity as a soul, existence of the Supreme God & our subordinate position in relation with Him.

  34. thank you for the post

  35. Radhanath Swami illustrates the all-important concept of spiritual life- service to the Lord is absolute. What one does in His service to the Lord does not matter; what matters is the consciousness with which it is done.

  36. I can appreciate and learn the role of a true scientist better now.

  37. Radhanath Swami's words of wisdom are surely very crucial. Why do we have to spend our time, efforts and money of reinventing the wheel and that too without perfection ? We apply this principle in business and corporate world by introducing concepts like "Knowledge Management", yet when it comes to spirituality we do not want to accept this principle !!

  38. I wonder what this world would become if all scientists follow this article by Swamiji.....

  39. Very clear and brilliant explanation.

  40. Radhanath Swami has busted the myth that by endless gratification of our senses they would, one day, become satiated and then it would be possible to gradually renounce those same pleasures. Gratification leads to insatiable greed, and association of saints leads to the development of divine qualities in the heart which lead one to renounce the temporary so-called pleasures of this world.
