Radhanath Swami on The Underlying Fear of Death

People are very anxious for security. They work all their life to create the feeling of security; security for the present, and security after they retire. They even want to provide for security to their near and dear ones even after they die, out of fear that if they don’t do so who will protect the near and dear ones? But death can come any moment. Everyone is afraid of death, directly or indirectly, because at death one loses everything one has worked so hard for throughout one’s life. This anxiety of fear underlies every aspect of material life; in fact it’s the prime motivation. But one who keeps his mind on the immortal and eternal becomes abhayam, fearless. As long as our mind is attached to anything temporary, it will be full of fear. Therefore, one who keeps his mind on the eternal lotus feet of the Lord is free from all anxiety and has no fear.

  4. This is the perfect formula for fearlessness. Unless we take full shelter of the Lord, we can't be fearless.

  6. If we see how many things can go wrong in a next minute - we will see how our living is nothing short of a miracle in this world.

The true way of feeling secure is not to buy more and more insurance but seek shelter and get assurance of the Supreme Lord...

  7. Radhanath Swami has so nicely gave us the formula of how to become fearless for death. A devotee accepts death happily while a materially engrossed person fears from it, because devotee takes shelter at the lotus feet of the Lord.

  9. Where there is complete faith, there is no complete surrender and hence no fear. But wehre there is not complete faith, there is fear and this causes us to create a security blanet around us. Maharaj has so clearly explained this to use. Thank you Maharaj.

  10. Radhanath Swami is basically exhorting us to take the shelter of God, to be dependent upon His mercy & protection. That indeed seems the best way to overcome all types of fear & anxieties.
