Radhanath Swami on Striving for Truth

Is anyone ever really satisfied by whatever fame, prestige, or accumulation of wealth he achieves? There are many statistics about how even the wealthiest people in the wealthiest parts of the wealthiest countries in the world spend their money on psychiatrists, take sleeping and antidepressant pills, and even commit suicide. They are so much dependent on intoxicants just to try to ease the frustrations of their life. Fame, power, material wealth, etc. cannot bring happiness. But still, we are living for these very things whose culmination is nothing but death. It’s all taken away. This is not pessimism. This is simply reality. Transformation means to actually develop the proper attitude to strive for what is real and true.

If we see around us, we can see living proof of Radhanath Maharaj's words. In many developed nations, 1 out of every 3 persons goes to see a psychiarist. And suicide rate is the highest among wealthy people, as compared to the poor.

  5. The more we have the more difficult it is to give up. Everything is yanked away by death. So, it is better to have less and live simple. Thank you Maharaj for your instructions.

  6. "Fame, power, material wealth, etc. cannot bring happiness." These are basic facts and if we accept and turn to what is real and true, our lives will be meaningful. All glories to Maharaj.

  7. Radhanath Swami is making it clear that what is called pessimism by materialistic people is actually reality and trying to ignore it is like an ostrich escaping from danger by hiding its head inside a pit. But Maharaj is also giving the way to transform our consciousness so that we look for happiness where it actually belongs.

  10. Just saw a few clippings of Japan Sunami....my God there is nothing certain in this world...everything we have accumulated as explained above can be taken away in a second or at some point we will have to leave them and go on(death)...only thing that we do carry is what we have acheived on Spiritual ground...how much of the Truth have we understood...

  12. The reality of our eternal spiritual nature is covered due to material consciousness and conditioning. Pure souls like Maharaj by their causeless mercy can relieve us from material pangs if we are truly willing to surrender.
