Radhanath Swami on Surrender

The spirit by which one can take the shelter of the Lord is that of humility, gratefulness and tolerance. It is by offering all respects to others and by not expecting respect for oneself that one can really surrender to the Lord. Surrender is not merely doing what one is told. That is only the superficial meaning. Deep down, surrender means to have no ego. It means to have the kind of humility that makes one unconditionally the property of the Lord - regardless of the situation. One who surrenders accepts an embrace or a rejection with equal grace. One who surrenders welcomes adversities and views them as blessings that help in furthering the intensity and sincerity of seeking the shelter of the Lord and His holy names.

  4. Krishna says surrender in the BG in the end. Now I understand why, as Radhanath Swami explains here, it is something very very deep.

  8. Adversity is a small price to pay for surrender. It is best understood by truly humble, grateful and tolerant souls like Maharaj who can value surrender enough to leave behind everything in search of God.Such a great soul is very rare.
