Radhanath Swami on Success in Preaching

Who are any of us to preach to anyone? What is our right to take such a position to teach someone else about their real welfare? The only right we have is the power of the disciplic succession empowering us. We should never ever think that "I am a good preacher". Acharyas (saints who teach by personal example) don't think in that way! Following their example, we should pray to be a puppet controlled by the strings of spiritual master's and God's mercy. We should know that people understand our message and our words only if we are empowered. As preachers we cannot change people's hearts by our scholarship, by our charisma, by our beautiful features or by any other means; a real preacher is one who awakens the real inclination to love God in everybody, who awakens the soul. If we repeat the words of great souls, rather if we let the great souls speak through us and become instruments of their mercy, then we can actually succeed in the purpose of preaching.

  5. Nice message from Radhanath Swami. Lord Krishna stresses on this point of recieving knowledge from Parampara/disciplic succession. Without parampara, no heart transformation.

  7. Radhanath Swami's deep realizations flow through the wonderful articles/lectures/books.

Such a humble and sincere mood as above makes him a wonderful instrument in the hands of the Lord and previous acharyas so that he can save people like ourselves from path of self destruction (thats what the World in general seems to be heading to)

  9. Thank you Radhanath Swami Maharaj for explaining the real meaning of preaching so wonderfully. In real world we see just opposite consciousness that I am the doer, however it is mentioned very nicely here that real transformation of heart takes place when we think that we are instrument in the hand of God & Guru.

Many times preaching brings alongwith it pride, desire for adoration, recognition, feeling that I am the doer etc. Radhanath Swami Maharaj's words of wisdom really touch upon the essence of the matter.

  16. Radhanath Swami beautifully brings out the point that a egoistic person cannot become a good preacher inspite of having so many talents.Only a humble person can convey the message of God effectively.
