Radhanath Swami on Honor and Dishonor
To tolerate dishonor is very difficult, but it is more difficult to tolerate honor. When you become dishonored, you may become angry or you may become depressed, depending on the person and the circumstances. Some people, when they become dishonored, they might pull out a sword and call a war against theoffenders but other people might just remove themselves from society, go to a lonely placed and cry in depression. In fact, the scriptures say that for one who is honored, dishonor is worse than death. But more difficult than that is to tolerate honor, without becoming proud.

ReplyDeleteBoth honor and dishonor are non-permanent. One's endevor should please Krishna. The result is for Him not for him. tolerate all circumstances is to please Krishna. All glorikes to HH Radhanatha Swami Maharaja.

ReplyDeleteVery true. Devotees always run away from being honored as they understand that if they get a feeling that they are eligible for being honored, then false pride might increase.
ReplyDeleteThis will help to avoid stress. Thank you Radhanath Swami.
ReplyDeleteI never thought this way that honor could be more difficult to tolerate, it is because one may very easily become proud after an honor. It is very difficult get honor and not become proud.
ReplyDeleteYes honor is most dangerous because it will increase our proud. The increase in proud will lead to the misbehavior with other living entities.Such a person may become a source of trouble for society. It is better to pass this honor to Guru and The God,knowing well that non qualification for the same to receive it.
ReplyDeleteHonor & Dishonor are two sides of the same coin. Only saintly people like Radhanath Swami remain unaffected by either of these. We need to follow in the footsteps of such spiritualists to handle different circumstances with poise & equanimity.
