Radhanath Swami on Real Renunciation

There are two processes - enjoyment and renunciation. Both are artificial. The natural, complete and healthy understanding of the world is to see everything as the divine energy and as a utility for serving the divine with devotion. Rejecting something as material is incomplete renunciation because the existence of a distinction between material and spiritual is our perception. Anything seen in relation to God is spiritual. It is not that the world is an illusion. Our perception of this world as meant for our pleasure is an illusion. When we see everything as the beautiful aspect of God and when we see every situation as an opportunity to express our love for Him then we truly renounce our illusion and make spiritual progress.

  1. So what Radhanath Swami samys is that we have to renounce our illusion of enjoyment rather than the material world, which is nothing but God' energy, meant for His service.

  6. The color of glasses determines the world you see. If you wear glasses of God conscious vision, everything around can be used in service of God. Radhanath Swami speaks of it in such cogent manner.

  10. Greate message from Radhanath Swami. We should understand that this material world is not illusion, but thinking that it's for our enjoyment is the illusion. With this understanding, we can make everything of this material world a spiritual thing.

  11. Whether we act as the proprietor and owner of everything we see, or whether we see everything as God's property is the key, and that depends on our consciousness. That is why we constantly need to become KRISHNA conscious, moment-to-moment.

  12. Very profound statement by Maharaj. Our existence is merely for Krishna's pleasure. We are not to consider ourselves as the enjoyers or renounced.
All we can do is to pray to the Lord to be a good instrument.

  13. False renunciation is like saying-i give up or renounce my neighbour's car!! It never belonged to us in the first place, there's no question of renouncing it.

Similarly, Radhanath Swami very nicely explained this concept that real renunciation is to understand that everything in this world, belongs to God and is meant for His enjoyment, not ours. We just have to renounce that this world is an object of our enjoyment.
