Radhanath Swami on How to Overcome Laziness
The Bhagavad-Gita does not teach that being spiritual means being lazy. In fact Krishna, in the Gita, tells the world that two of the greatest enemies for spiritual progress are egotism and lethargy, or laziness. We cannot be lazy; we must be dynamic. If you are a business person, or if you are a politician or you are a king or if you are a swami, or a brahmacari, a celibate monk, or if you are a doctor or if you are a lawyer, if you are a teacher or a student or a mother or a father, you don’t give up your duty, you don’t become lazy, but you’re motivated, you're more enthusiastic, with more dynamics because instead of being motivated by greed, you’re motivated by love and compassion.

ReplyDeleteRadhanath Swami explained so nicely being motivated in whatever job you are doing. That shows the wonderful example to world that being spiritual doesn't mean to be lazy in our regular duties.
ReplyDeleteVery True. In fact the great devotees of the Lord are always enthusiastic to serve the Lord. Srila Prabhupada is a great example. At the age of about 70 years when most people prefer a relaxed life and spend their day doing nothing Srila Prabhupada went to America all alone to accomplish a mission. The mission was to spread the message of Krishna all over the world.

ReplyDeletei have seen the spiritual teachers in the shleter of Srila Prabhupada, being more active than CEO of a multinational organization... The difference being, they work hard to give to others and we all work hard to collect for our greed...How can we ever repay the debts of these spiritual teachers??? all glories to their sacrifice..
ReplyDeleteTime and again, the mind's tendency is to take things easy and become irresponsible. Very expertly explained by Radhanath Swami on how we have to motivate ourselves with higher goals and not be lazy...
