Radhanath Swami on Death for the Soul
From the spiritual perspective, death means forgetfulness or ignorance of our true identity. This ignorance simply means identifying with what we are not. As long as we are thinking that we are this temporary material body, mind, and intelligence, we are trying to experience pleasure and fulfillment through this medium. But we are not this body. We have never been this body. We are eternal souls, and the real happiness that we are all searching for is within our very selves. Therefore, this cloud of forgetfulness is likened to death for the soul.
