Radhanath Swami on Pious But Sinful

The Lord must always be first in our lives. Those who are negligent to this spiritual principle act very selfishly. They simply try to feed their false egos and engage in many sinful activities. From the absolute point of view, even if we do pious activities, if we do them just for our own pleasure, it is sinful because everything is ultimately meant only for the Lord’s enjoyment, not ours.

  1. This statement by Radhanath Swami can bring about a paradigm shift in the mindset of those people who are generally pious but are not performing any devotional service to God. Anyone who is well informed in the scriptures will surely agree with Maharaj that being a devotee is ranked much higher than being just a pious human.

  4. Maharaj has rightly pointed out that Supreme Lord Sri Krishna is the supreme enjoyer.Lack of this realisation in performing various activities is the real cause of bondage and suffering in this world. This article is an eye-opener.Thanks Maharaj for sharing.

  5. Many people, particularly Indians, are happily thinking they are doing 'pious' activities and therefore they are entitled to act only for their own benefit. This scriptural wisdom from Radhanath Swami totally smashes these false notions.

  16. As our scriptures have described, everything is owned by God, and so what we have is with his mercy. We should therefore use it for His satisfaction. Everything should be used for His happiness.

  17. These words of Radhanath Swami are quite profound - they reveal the true motive behind the great plans of so called pious people. If such activites are done for the sake of name, fame then they may fail to deliver any tangible benefit spiritually.
