Austerity means to be willing to accept inconvenience for the purification of one’s heart and in the service of God and humanity. Unless one is willing to accept sacrifice or inconvenience, nothing great can be accomplished in life. Often, people take religion to be very cheap. When it comes to making money to provide for oneself and
family, one is willing to accept tremendous sacrifice, but when it comes to spiritual life, some people say that spiritual life is very difficult. But life very difficult anyway. The question we have to ask is not whether something is difficult or not but whether it’s right or not? If something is true, we should be willing to do anything and
give everything for that purpose.

I love the way Radhanath Swami has demarcated how austerity is there in our lives anyways, we need to dovetail it to our spiritual lives as well.

Vedic scriptures are full of personalities who accepted tremendous sacrifice for spiritual goals. We should follow in their footsteps under the guidance of Gurus like Radhanath Swami.

ReplyDeleteIn order to lead a comfortable material life today people buy different luxurious items, if they do not have money they take it on loan and to repay it they work for hours like an ass. If instead of wasting time for unnecessary things if we would spend our time judiciously in taking the holy name of the Lord then it would be a great benediction. Not only we would lead a peaceful and happy life but at the time of death Lord will be there to protect us and take us back
to his own abode which is our original home.
Thank You Radhanath Swami for guiding us so that we can ask the right questions in our life.Thank you for also providing the answers to those questions.
