Radhanath Swami on What Motivates Renunciation
Some people think that the process of renunciation without going through all the pleasures and sufferings of life is improper and ineffective. Their philosophy is: "Let them suffer, then enjoy, then suffer and in this way let them become broken-hearted. Let them have families, power and position. And when they really get attached to it, let them realize that it is all empty. When they realize that everything is temporary then they will automatically take to the path of renunciation." However, saintly people explain that one never becomes renounced by suffering in this world; real renunciation comes by association of devotees, whatever the stage of life.

Superb and simple explanation about renunciation. As maharaj said renunciation should be natural not articial, that's the way of understanding the renunciation with the association of saintly people like Maharaj.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Maharaj nice analogy.
The truth of life in this material world is being revealed by HH Radhanath Swami here. The mind always keeps on pulling us towards the sense objects and keeps us away from advancing towards Krishna. Thank you Radhanth Swami for this gem of knowledge.
ReplyDeleteThank you Radhanath Swami for explaining the meaning of real renunciation.
ReplyDeleteWonderfully stated by Radhanath Swami!
ReplyDeleteReal renunciation comes by association of devotees and not by suffering in this world. Even if one becomes renounced because of suffering in this world, it will just be temporary affair and will not last long.
Beautiful blog by Radhanath Swami. He is teaching that renunciation is not external.Real renunciation is in the heart.
ReplyDeleteAll Glories To H.H Radhanath Swami Maharaj
ReplyDeleteA very beautiful understanding, Nothing can be greater than associating with devotees.
Hare Krishna
This is a super statement from Radhanath Swami: Real renunciation doesn't come through suffering but by associating with devotees.
ReplyDeleteRadhanath Swami is right! Real sintly persons are intelligent and do not have " to fall in the pit " or "experience " to know that there is danger ahead. If they see the " warning sign" or "hear from someone "they know they have to take precaution
ReplyDeleteBeautiful explanation
ReplyDeleteAs HH Radhanath Swami explains in simple words, the association of saintly people is the real renunciation of worldly attachments.
ReplyDeleteRadhnath swami is defining how to achieve "real renunciation" & stressing the fortune of attaining the association of devotees.
ReplyDeletenice words by radhanath swami, choice is the individual decision,
ReplyDeleteYes. If we just rennounce without understanding the very purpose of it, it'd not be satisfying us, but if we understand the importance of association with devotees, that would help us understand what renunciation really means,
ReplyDeleteRadhanath swami teaches us what is real renunciation
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYes....the earlier type of false renunciation that Radhanath Swami mentions is when, we are keeping ourselves at the center of the picture
ReplyDeleteAssociation of devotees will make us realize that Krishna is center and He is the owner and proprietor of everything. This is a complete picture of renunciation. Detachment from material world + attachment to Krishna....thank you so much Radhanath Swami
very true
ReplyDeleteRadhanath Swami's wonderful explanation of renunciation which comes only by the association of devotees
ReplyDeleteSadhu Sanga, Sadhu Sanga,Sadhu Sange....Maharaj always stresses this as did Srila Prabhupada. This is the only sure way of defeating Maya. Thank you Maharaj.
ReplyDeleteHH Radhanath Swami has given here the deeper understanding of renunciation.
ReplyDeletethank you very much maharaj
ReplyDeleteThe words spoken by Radhanath Swami Maharaj is full of wisdom & truth - renunciation cannot be achieved simply through the trial & error process of experiencing pain & joy of this material world alternatively. It has to be cultivated meticulously by learning & practicing in the association of saintly people, by following their instructions with humility & sincerity.
ReplyDeletePerfect explaination of renunciation by a renunciate
ReplyDeleteAn eye-opener....profound....
ReplyDeletewonderful explanation of renunciation
ReplyDeleteMaharaj, you are truly renounced. If one was to go by the definition of renunciation, you are a shining example. Hare Krishna !!
ReplyDeleteOnce heard Renunciation out of frustration doesn't last long.
ReplyDeleteThank you Radhanath Swami Maharaj for explaining the true way of renunciation - "association of devotees".
ReplyDeleteEven after suffering people never give up cheating themselves that maybe something else - some other form of enjoyment - will work. Only by associating with genuine compassionate saints such as Radhanath Swami and his family of aspiring devotees can one hope to get disillusioned and begin the journey of true bliss.
ReplyDeleteThank you Radhanath Swamiji. It is not possible that after defeat against material nature one may select a path of runinciation.Infact defeat may lead such person to go deep and deep into nature's intracasis.Therfore at any given time if anyone associates with devotees of Lord Krishna then he can become proper runinciant at that time only.
ReplyDeleteYes, the only hope for some one trapped in this material existence is Sadhus - because they teach how to transcend this world.
ReplyDeleteOn our own we go in cycles of bhoga-tyaga - enjoy then suffering comes, so renounce. Then some feeling of respite of suffering comes...then back again to enjoy...inviting suffering...
Renunciation - for most it means giving up something, Radhanath Swami has so wonderfully brought out the essence of renunciation as in associating with devotees.
ReplyDeleteWhat a superb realization!!! Thank you Maharaj. I am so grateful to you for sharing this with us.
